The Saxon Team

The Saxon Day Centre is run by a team of full-time professional staff and care staff, assisted by volunteers and supported by the Board of Trustees of Age Concern Orpington & District. The team is committed to enabling older people in our community to lead healthy and fulfilled lives as active, involved and equal citizens. We aim to promote and encourage their wellbeing and help to make their lives more secure, dignified and enjoyable.

We follow guidelines for good governance and care and adhere to data protection, environmental health, catering and other applicable standards.

Please also see our vacancies page.

Staff

Our friendly staff operate under the management of the centre manager, who heads a team of care, catering and administrative staff and together they provide a friendly and welcoming environment.

Our team of qualified care staff fulfil essential personal care needs, as well as keeping an eye on the general health and well being of our clients.

Our team of kitchen staff cook a varied range of dishes for each lunch time. More details of the catering at the Centre can be found here.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer.

Volunteers

Our volunteers are invaluable members of the Saxon family. Volunteers come from various backgrounds, bring a multitude of skills and abilities and their time spent at the Saxon Day Centre can be very enjoyable and fulfilling. Volunteers contribute in a variety of ways, such as:

  • Transporting clients to and from the centre in the Saxon mini-bus
  • Preparing and serving refreshments
  • Helping to serve lunch
  • Organising raffles
  • Assisting with in-house activities
  • Conversing with and providing general companionship for the clients

New volunteers are always welcome, so if you are interested to find out more please take a look at our Get Involved page or contact the Saxon Day Centre directly.

Trustees

We have an active Board of Trustees, a number of whom also volunteer within the Centre. In addition to our monthly management meetings, the Trustees are often to be seen at the Saxon Day Centre and are fully involved with supporting the day to day running of the Centre.

We are keen to welcome new Trustees, especially those with skills that will complement the management and operation of the Saxon Day Centre. If you would like further information on the role then please contact Dennis Moore via the Saxon Day Centre.
